Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic and public speechwriter. Feminist Frequency is a website which hosts video and commentary looking at the portrayals of gender roles in pop culture. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and American feminist media critic. Feminist Frequency explores how women are depicted in popular media. As well as working to bring awareness to the harassment and targeted attacks on women, other minorities in online spaces she is committed to breaking down the stigmas and stereotypes associated with pop culture. Sarkeesian is a graduate in the fields of social thought and political science at York University. She is also a highly-respected public speaking. Sarkeesian has given speeches at the TEDxWomen XOXO Festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group. She was fascinated by the gender issue and feminist movements since a early time. When she graduated in 2009, continuing to study at the university level, she created the Feminist Frequency web site. The ambitious lady planned to start an internet-based series on the gender roles in games but was the target of an online campaign to harass her. The attack did not stop her, but instead strengthened her determination as feminist media critic. Her notable contributions to the field of feminists have been recognized by numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic for many years and founded Feminist Frequency. This educational non-profit explores the role of women in pop culture narratives.
